Frontier Foundry

★★★★☆ 4.4 Editor rating

Frontier Foundry is a management strategy game where you drop a handful of settlers onto an empty map and try not to let them starve. It sounds grim but it's oddly relaxing once you get the rhythm of gathering, building and planning for winter.

What I appreciate is how readable it is. Every building shows its inputs and outputs clearly, so you're never guessing why your food supply collapsed. The challenge comes from long-term planning — you have to prepare for the cold season several in-game weeks before it hits.

It pauses whenever you need it to and saves everywhere, which makes it ideal for playing in short bursts offline. No timers pushing you to come back, no energy meters. Just you and a spreadsheet dressed up as a little snowy village.
